The Hobbit - Annual 2013
In a hole in the ground there lived a hobbit. Så började professor Tolkien sin välkända bok The Hobbit, eller som den på svenska nu heter: Bilbo - En Hobbits Äventyr. I berättelsen får man följa Bilbo som blir rekryterad - en aning motivlligt - till en expedition bestående av 13 dvärgar och trollkarlen Gandalf för att återerövra det förlorade kungadömet Erebor från draken Smaug. På vägen dit får de kämpa mot ett antal faror och fler än en gång visar Bilbo Baggins sin duglighet. Den 12 december i år kommer den första delen i en trilogi om Bilbos äventyr att ha premiär och det är med utgångspunkt i filmerna The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey - Annual 2013 har. Man får lära känna Bilbo och andra välkända karaktärer från Sagan om Ringen men man introduceras även till några nya. Informationen om dvärgarna är densamma som i The Hobbit applikationen men det är mycket enklare att ta in texten än vad det var att göra i telefonen. I boken finns det endel bilder som länge har cirkulerat runt på nätet men man hittar även nya. Kvaliteten på dessa bilder är helt fantastisk och halva grejen med boken är nästan bildernas utsökthet. Boken som kanske egentligen är tänkt för barn innehåller även några klurigheter, pyssel och illusioner. Dessa är kanske inte av lika hög kvalitet som resten av boken men det kanske också är för att jag inte är den tilltänkta målgruppen till denna bok. Vad jag däremot uppskattar är den klassiska "Riddles in the Dark". Här presenteras 6 stycken olika gåtor som läser får liksom Bilbo gissa svaren till. Dessa gåtor är mycket mer anpassade för vuxna än vad de är för barn vilket förvånar mig lite då på stora hela så känns boken mer som om den passar barn i åldern 7-12 år. För en person som har läst The Hobbit (ett antal gånger) och är välbekant med handlingen och personligheterna i boken kan det kanske kännas som om den här boken är något av en besvikelse. Informationen är på en ganska basnivå. Den enda saker som jag egentligen inte visste var att Gandalfs fyverkerier också kallas för "whizz-poppers" men det beror nog snarare på min okunskap i engelska. Så vad tycker jag egentligen om boken? För att bara ha betalat 89 kr så är det ett väldigt bra köp. Jag älskar bilderna i boken och endast dessa är värda 89 kr. Man kan klippa ut bokmärken ur boken och använda (jag blir nästan förfärad vid tanken på att någon skulle klippa i den här boken! Jag tänker skanna in sidan och skriva ut bokmärkena istället!) och en bok som denna tror jag är väldigt rolig att ha om 20 år när man berättar för sina (eventuella) barn om året 2012 då den fantastiska filmen The Hobbit kom ut. Sist men inte minst måste beröm framföras för valet av illustration på framsidan. En sådan makalöst vacker och tilldragande bild har sällan skådats!

The reader follows Bilbo Baggins, a hobbit who rather reluctantly gets recruited to an expedition consisting13 dwarves and the wizard Gandalf the Grey. The goal is the reconquer the fallen kingdom Erebor from the dragon Smaug the Magnificent. During the book they have to fight goblins wargs and several other unpleasent thing. And little Bilbo gets to show his capability and skills more than once. The 14th of December (or as in Sweden, the 12th) the first part of the trilogy will be released. The book The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey - Annual 2013 is based on these movies and here you get to know Bilbo and other well known characters from The Lord of the Rings, but also get to know some new friends. The information about the dwarves is the same as in The Hobbit application but is much more easy to read than on your phone. There's a lot of wonderful pictures in the book, some which has circulated for a while on the internet, but some new. The quality of these pictures is absolutely amazing! I feel that the target group for this book is for kids somwhere between 7-12 yrs and that shows off in the amount of "find five faults" and mazes. I don't appreciate this as much as the rest of the book, but that's maybe because I'm not 12 yrs. What I do appreciate is the classic "Riddles in the Dark". The reader gets, just as Bilbo got from Gollum, several riddles to solve and actually, these riddles are a bit tricky, escpecially when it feels like the rest of this book is meant for 7-12 year olds (but maybe it's only me who is a total sucker of riddle-solving). The text and information in the book is pretty basic. Anyone who has read the The Hobbit once (or several times) will perhaps find it a bit disappointing. The only thing I learnt was that Gandalf's fireworks were also caled "wizz-pops" but that I think is mainly due to my lack of knowledge in English. So what did I actually think about the book? I only payed 89 kr (around 9 euros) and for that amount of money it's a fantastic book. The pictures let alone is worth 89 kr. This is a book I think will be very fun to have in 20 years when you tell your (possible) future children about the year 2012 when the remarcable movie The Hobbit was released. Finally, if you don't think it's worth buying this book yet, buy it then for its cover. Such an amazing cover has never been seen!
